We are located in the southeastern hunting zone of Kansas an hour and a half southeast of Wichita. We access thousands of acres with two thirds of that being private and exclusive only to us. Of that private access the center piece that makes everything go is the 15 miles of almost continuous river valley AG.
What makes our Kansas Operation so special is that we have the highest concentration of continuous AG in a 40-mile radius. Throw in the nine roost lakes that surround our private access; and the numerous loaf ponds you have that Perfect Prairie Storm for duck and goose hunting! When you witness the birds lifting off the lake atop the western mesa 3-miles away and watch their approach to our valley you will surely see what we mean!
We predominantly take mallards and big Canadas. But you can expect a good mix of pintails, widgeon, and gadwalls to contribute to the strap on the duck side. As for the geese you can expect in addition to the big birds, some lessers and speckle-bellies. You also will be surprised at the number of redheads, ring-necks, and cans that stage on the bigger lakes as they move south. We have a few of our loaf ponds that are species specific, like the one that seems to attract a large number of pintails; while another for gadwalls, and the favorite that gives up a good mix of widgeon and green heads.
Whether we are set up on one of our AG fields or one of the many potholes most of the hunting is done from A frame blinds or layout blinds. However we do have several standing timber holes where you will need waders. We access all of our areas with UTV side by sides and literally in most cases drive right up to the blind area. Ninety five percent of our hunting is less than a 30-minute commute, However we do have several properties that are a 45-minute to an hour commute. Generally you can expect a full day of hunting, however sometimes mitigating factors may prevent that from taking place.
The Kansas winters can be brutal and the wind can cut like a knife. Your clothing should be windproof and waterproof. Waterproof knee high field boots are strongly recommended. If you have waders please bring them just in case we hunt one of our standing timber spots.
Ammo- we recommend that you use one of the high density loads manufactured by brands such as Boss Ammo or Heavy X. If you so choose to, we recommend No.-4’s or 5’s for ducks and No.2’s for geese. If you choose to go with straight steel then use No.-2’s for ducks and BB’s for geese.
License-You will need to purchase the following: a Kansas state hunting license, a Kansas state waterfowl stamp, federal duck stamp( please sign your federal stamp), and Kansas HIP stamp.
Duck Limits- six ducks including no more than, 5 mallards, of which only 2 may be hens; 3 wood ducks; 3 scaup; 2 redheads; 2 canvasbacks; and 1 pintail. Possession limit is three times the daily bag limit.
Dogs- You are welcome to bring your own dog, provided they are well behaved, uncontrollable dogs will not be tolerated. Dogs must be crated at night or when they are un supervised.
Bird Processing- all birds are either breasted or hitched and packaged individually with its tag. We have freezers and refrigeration on site.
